French-language financial bursaries, exchange and travel opportunities for Canadian Students
There are several financial bursary, exchange, work, study, and travel opportunities available to students in Canada. I encourage you to TAKE ADVANTAGE of these (often FREE) programs!
Bursaries:
Do you know any English-speaking students going into their first year of a college or university program in Canada in Fall 2021? They could be eligible to receive a $3,000 bursary for studying partly or entirely in French. Studies show that bilingualism leads to better jobs and higher salaries. Give your students a leg up and encourage them to see if they are eligible: acufc.ca/FSLBursaries.
During Highschool:
High school graduates who decide to attend college in/near Ottawa or in Gatineau Québec:

- OSEF (Organisme de Séjours Éducatifs Français) offers both one-month (summer) and three-month (semester) exhanges to France for 13-17 year olds. www.osef.ca Information Meetings are sometimes available
- The YMCA offers 6-week summer work exchange opportunities in Quebec for 16 and 17 year olds. I have heard fantastic feedback about it. www.summer-work.com
- The federal government sponsors a 5-week study program to a variety of universities across Canada for students who have finished Grade 11 or Grade 12 (or are enrolled in post-secondary). It's a fun French Study experience (Spring or Summer) in Alberta, Québec, Ontario or New Brunswick: REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 16 yrs of age & enrolled in school (highschool or college) full-time. Apply in the fall for the following summer.
